Department of Prosthodontics
Departmental Objectives
The objective of the Department of Prosthodontics is to educate under graduate students to attain thorough skill and competency in the specialty of Prosthodontics. Through didactic and clinical teaching, students receive required knowledge and skills to fulfill the fundamental prosthetic needs of patients. Department focuses on imparting sound knowledge, teach the techniques and evaluate clinical competency to provide quality treatment to patients. In addition to the Prosthodontics needs of the patient, students are made to understand comprehensive care of their patients to achieve optimal oral health, esthetics and function. We strive to let our patients have a unique, holistic, professional experience when they visit our OPD. We are committed to provide the highest standard of dental care available and fostering long term relationships with our patients. Our aim is to inspire confidence and trust that comes with an aesthetically and functionally restored, healthy smile.
The field of Prosthodontics involves the restoration of morphology, function and esthetics. The Prosthodontics Department is responsible for teaching undergraduate students in several areas:
- Fixed Prosthodontics
- Removable Complete Denture Prosthodontics
- Removable Partial Denture Prosthodontics
- Dental Implants
- Maxillofacial Prosthodontics
- Occlusion and TMJ Dysfunction
Objectives of Prosthodontics subject:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
- Mention the normal relations of the human teeth and jaws in dentulous patients.
- Describe the Anatomy and Physiology of complete or partial edentulous state.
- Describe the articulation and concept of occlusion.
- Explain the procedure of mouth preparation for removable & fixed prosthesis.
- Mention the steps wise Process, finish and deliver of different dental prosthesis.
- Use various dental materials effectively.
- Competently treat of edentulous, partial edentulous and maxilla – facial defect patient.
- Familiar with the concept of osseointegration and the value of implant-supported Prosthodontic procedures.
- Diagnose and refer patients requiring treatment.
